Excluding Shanghai Electric Group Company (SHSE: 601727) established upon integration, 41 stocks under codes start with "601" chalked up to CNY 15.47 trillion in A-share market capitalization early this year. However, their market cap plunged to CNY 5.31 trillion in total by December 25.
Considering dividend distributions of public companies, the latest market value of the 41 stocks has fallen by CNY 10.06 trillion, or 65 percent, compared with that at the year beginning. For example, the A-share market cap of PetroChina Company (SHSE: 601857) tumbled CNY 3.33 trillion, and the company's total market value also dropped to USD 258.8 billion, ranking No. 2 after the US Exxon Mobil Corporation among listed companies across the world.
In addition, benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was off up to 64.79 percent by December 25 since the inception of the year.
