Starting on Friday, the company will trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol MD. Each share under the old name will become one share under the new name.
MEDNAX will be a holding company with subsidiaries Pediatrix Medical Group and American Anesthesiology.
The company is changing its name because it has expanded outside its original area of providing physician services for neonatal and other pediatric specialties.
