The airline has reported a load factor of 79.2% in December 2008, compared to 78.8% in the same period of 2007. Capacity decreased 8.6% to 13.03 billion available seat miles, compared to 14.25 billion available seat miles in December 2007.
In December 2008, the airline's domestic traffic decreased 9.6% year-over-year on 11.8% less capacity, while international traffic decreased 5.7% on a capacity decrease of 3.2%.
American Airlines has boarded 7.3 million passengers in December 2008, a decrease of 8.2%, compared to 7.92 million passengers in the same period of 2007.
