DECATUR, Ill., Jan 06, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
TATYY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- After months -- maybe even
years -- of nurturing a love/hate relationship with excess pounds, a new study
commissioned by Tate & Lyle, the manufacturer of PROMITOR(TM) Soluble Corn
Fiber and PROMITOR(TM) Resistant Starch, http://www.promitorfiber.com, finds
that people may consume less calories while continuing to eat their favorite
foods.

This study, led by researchers at the University of Toronto's Department
of Nutritional Sciences, reports that products manufactured with either
PROMITOR(TM) Soluble Corn Fiber or PROMITOR(TM) Resistant Starch have been
found to produce lower glycemic and insulin responses. The lower responses may
help to prevent the roller coaster of sugar spikes and crashes, which could
lead to improved weight management and better blood glucose control,
especially for those battling diabetes.

"Modern western diets are typically low in fiber and nutrient poor, but
are energy dense," says Cyril WC Kendall, Ph.D., Research Associate,
University of Toronto. "As a low-calorie ingredient, soluble corn fiber may
aid in weight and disease management by helping to control post-meal glucose
and insulin spikes."

The study's results were published in the Journal of the American College
of Nutrition in December 2008.
