CMCC officially rolled out its new 3G brand logo "G3" on January 7 and exclusive number segment 188.
The leading carrier of China successfully finished the project of core network integration of TD-SCDMA (TD) and 2G in end-2008, enabling its 2G users to enjoy 3G services with dual-mode cell phones, rather than changing their mobile phone numbers, SIM cards, or making new registrations.
In the meantime, the second phase of TD construction is in full operation, and additional 28 cities will be covered by TD networks in June.
CMCC scheduled to achieve full TD network coverage in China by 2011.
CMCC said that it would enhance its independent innovation for the development, construction and operation of TD so as to stimulate domestic demand and secure steady and relatively fast economic growth.
Telecom Group reckons that the issuance of 3G licenses will be helpful in optimizing the competitive structure of the telecom industry and spur the development of relevant industry chain.
The Group's CDMA network can be upgraded to 3G network smoothly. With the 3G license, it vows to enhance cooperation with other carriers, promote the sharing and co-building of telecom infrastructures so as to avoid duplicated construction and resources waste.
Unicom Group will accelerate 3G network construction and trial commercial operation, and make effort to provide diversified 3G services as early as possible.
The carrier believes that the licensing of 3G business operation is beneficial for its future development and efficiently enhances its capacity of telecom services.
