Sam Roberts, Director of Film Competitions for Slamdance, emphasized that "National Lampoon's Dirty Movie is not, repeat not, an official selection of the 2009 Slamdance Film Festival. While Slamdance prides itself on supporting edgy and irreverent fare," Roberts continued, "even we have limits."
Tim Durham, CEO of National Lampoon, expressed his company's elation at the chance to preview its new movie in a city hosting not one, but two major film festivals simultaneously. "If you aren't one of the several million people important enough or connected enough to be in D.C. for Barack Obama's inauguration, and you're stuck in Utah at either Slamdance or Sundance, there's not much better to do on a Tuesday night than to come see our Dirty Movie."
Alan Donnes, producer of National Lampoon's Dirty Movie, explained the movie's appeal this way: "After spending several days watching a continuous stream of artsy angst-infused cinema, you'll be more than ready for a puerile film filled with sophomoric humor and, of course, boobs and midgets. And Dirty Movie will give you exactly you want." Donnes added, "We believe the interest generated by our appearance in Park City will give us the momentum we need to secure the Golden Raspberry this film so richly deserves."
