The complaint accuses the defendants of violations of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by virtue of the Company's failure to disclose during the Class Period that PFF's assets contained hundreds of millions of dollars worth of impaired and risky securities, many of which were backed by real estate that was rapidly dropping in value and that the Company's accounting failed to properly reflect impairment in PFF's real estate-related loans. According to the complaint, after the Company was closed by regulators on November 21, 2008, the value of PFF's stock became virtually worthless.
