Among the stores slated to close by late March after a two-month clearance sale is the retailer's location at 2980 Whiteford Road in Springettsbury Township.
The local store opened in February 1997 and employed about 50 workers.
Circuit City, the second-biggest U.S. consumer electronics retailer, is the latest casualty of an unprecedented pullback in consumer spending.
Starting Saturday, Circuit City is expected to kick-off its going-out-of-business sale, at least at some of its stores.
Jim Babb, a spokesman for Circuit City, offered, via e-mail, answers to some questions about how the second-largest U.S. consumer electronics retailer will shut its doors.
Will Circuit City stores and your Web site continue to accept Circuit City gift cards?
Yes. Customers holding Circuit City gift cards may redeem them at full value at our stores during the liquidation sales. Once the stores are closed and the company is out of business, the gift cards will have no value.
Are Circuit City's extended warranties affected by the liquidation?
No. The retailer's warranties have been backed by third-party independent companies for more than 15 years and, as a result, are not impacted by Circuit City's closing.
When will the liquidation sales begin?
The sales will begin as early as today. The sales should wrap up by the end of March.
What payment types will be accepted at the liquidation stores?
Stores in liquidation will accept cash, Circuit City gift cards and most credit cards. Personal checks will not be accepted. All sales are final.
What about returns and refunds?
Customers may return products bought prior to Friday for a 14-day period for exchange or refunds.
Will delivery service be available for products bought from liquidation stores?
No.
