The Chicago-based company said it plans to continue operations during the bankruptcy process and has received commitments for up to $750 million in debtor-in-possession financing for operations.
The company said the restructuring was needed because frozen credit markets prevented it from getting out-of-court refinancing. It has more than $3 billion worth of debt -- nearly half its annual revenue of about $7.5 billion.
