Features: Use the Dazzle capture to copy onto your computer video from a camcorder, VCR, TV, DVD player or other devices. Includes Pinnacle Studio software to edit videos and Pinnacle Instant DVD Recorder. Software allows for direct upload to websites like YouTube.
Price: $89.99
Ups: I was surprised to see the different things you could do with the editing software. You can produce multilayered effects on a timeline with still photos, videos, music, sound effects, animated graphics, transitions and titles. And when you're using the Dazzle to pull video from another source, such as your TV, it automatically takes your clip and divides it into "scenes" when the video changes angles.
Downs: It doesn't come with the cords to connect it to your video device. It has a USB connection for your computer, but there's nothing to connect your Dazzle to another video device. Better hope you have some extra cords lying around. Also, the software did glitch on me once. I thought it was just a hiccup in my video preview, but the strange picture flicker error was burned in the final DVD video. It was an easy fix -- I just had to re-do the frame.
Bottom line: It's a good buy if you don't have a way to pull video onto your computer and if you don't have any real video editing software. And I think it's also good for a non-tech- savvy person because it starts with a detailed tutorial on how to use the software, along with a vacation-video example.
