Sales of televisions and digital cameras have foundered amid the economic slump, handing the operator of electronics stores its first net profit decline in six years.
Overall sales are seen climbing 7 per cent to 1.89 trillion yen, undershooting its earlier projection by 73 billion yen.
Demand for TVs, digital cameras and personal computers is weakening, and their prices are falling.
"Customer turnout has remained flat, but they are spending less," says a senior Yamada Denki official.
