U.S. actress Jessica Biel, who was the host of the Saturday night event, presented Catmull, whose selection had been disclosed previously, with a Science and Technical Oscar for his groundbreaking work with digital graphics, People.com reported Sunday.
Catmull was the night's lone Oscar winner while other cinematic technical experts won other awards.
The event gave Biel, known for such movies such as "Stealth" and "Summer Catch," a chance to mingle with Hollywood's technical elite, People.com noted.
"They should call this show 'Are You Smarter Than a 15th-Grader,'" the actress quipped.
Portions of the event will be shown during the Feb. 22 Academy Awards show.
