Gov. Tupas gives P15,000 cash reward to PNP, PDEA for successful anti-illegal drug operations

ILOILO CITY, Feb 06, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- RCDDF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- ? Iloilo Governor Niel D. Tupas gave a cash reward of P15,000 to Iloilo Provincial Director Ricardo De la Paz and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Assistant Regional Director Paul Ledesma on Thursday for their successful anti-illegal drugs operations which netted out five drug personalities.

Iloilo provincial capitol Administrator Manuel Mejorada, in an interview, said that this cash reward was part of the P1 million allotted by the provincial government to its all out war against illegal drugs as well as to support the Philippine National Police (PNP) and PDEA in their operations.

The successful drug operations were conducted on January 8 in Estancia with the apprehension of Marko de la Cruz and Fedie Bangalisan whom the PNP caught while selling shabu and marijuana to an undercover agent.

Also on January 14, the Leon PNP arrested Ruel Camina after he gave six sachets of dried marijuana leaves to a poseur-buyer in the public plaza.

The PDEA Regional Office agents together with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office Special Operations Group raided the drug den being operated by Ryan Ace Jallorina after conducting a test-buy.

Arrested together with Jallorina was Nerlito Padrones.

Mejorada said that because of the successful operations of the PNP and PDEA, the governor would like to further encourage them to have an unyielding campaign against illegal drugs.

He said that aside from the cash reward to be given to the police and PDEA, the P1 million logistical support will also be used in their surveillance and monitoring of drug personalities and for their transportation during the hearings.
