The company said that it has commenced employee negotiations regarding a relocation of production from its facility in Bording to a more modern plant in Olgod.
"It is more efficient to consolidate production to a single unit rather than adapt the production at two plants. Due to the more modern equipment at Nobia's plant in Olgod, we believe that total volumes can be efficiently produced there," said Preben Bager, president and CEO of Nobia.
"Unfortunately, the strategy will have a negative impact on the number of positions in Bording. However, we are implementing this strategy to strengthen our overall market position so that we are as well equipped as possible when the economy improves," Bager added.
Nobia, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, is Europe's leading kitchen company with manufacturing and sales operations in 10 countries. The company's brands include Magnet in the UK, HTH in the Nordic region, Hygena in France and Poggenpohl internationally. Nobia has 9,000 employees, and reported sales of SEK15.99bn in 2008.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 12.03 Swedish kronor (SEK).
