Such move of BASF AG reflects the investment spree in the vicinity of the dam. Besides BASF AG, PetroChina and Chongqing Iron and Steel Group are also brewing expansion into the area.
The environment of the area has been watched closely ever since the completion of the dam. And the water-rich area is the best place for chemical plants.
So far the German company has set up production facilities in Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and Jilin. The MDI in Chongqing will serve as a portal for the company to enter into the vast Western China area.
