The seven all left with severance packages based on years of service, said Jon Lane, director of the automobile loan servicing center near 120th Street and West Maple Road.
The call center, which opened in 1990, has 275 employees, Lane said. No cuts were made below the supervisory level, he said.
The cuts were part of a 20 percent nationwide work force reduction that the credit arm of Ford Motor Co. announced at the end of January. About 1,200 jobs were projected to be lost.
Margaret Mellott, a spokeswoman at Ford Motor Credit headquarters in Dearborn, Mich., said Wednesday that the nationwide cuts are due to be completed by the end of July.
Christine Hansen, who had worked at the Omaha center for 16 years, was one of those let go. She said her "generous" severance package included six months of health insurance.
"They were more than fair," she said. "I'm going to be fine."
Hansen, 56, said that while she is eligible for early retirement, she intends to keep working. "I'm going to go out and get another job," she said.
