"In order to capture the growing demand of the 500 ml can market, the company has decided to invest in this can-size in addition to the 330 ml cans, thereby becoming a total solution provider.
We are also very proud to partner with United Breweries (UB) in this regard," Rexam HTW's Managing Director, Sanjay Bhatia, told reporters while signing the agreement with United Breweries' Managing Director, Kalyan Ganguly.
This is a huge step that the company has taken towards expansion in this sector and although the country is amidst a slowdown, the idea of launching the 500ml cans did not prove a deterrent to Rexam HTW, he said.
Not delving into details, Ganguly said the companies had signed an "evolving deal", the transactions for which would be "fairly substantial".
"Our growth in some markets is unpredictable and cannot be gauged in numbers. UB is growing at 25 per cent per year," he said.
