Defence News magazine has recently run a news report saying the UAE is negotiating a commercial deal with Israel that would grant the Emirate of Abu Dhabi access to the Israeli-built Eros B satellite.
A government official source has denied the report at that time. ''As a national company I deny any direct or indirect relation with any Israeli industry, Al Buainnain told reporters today on the sidelines of IDEX.
''We are talking about a project for space research and creation of the first-ever Gulf Earth Observation Centre ........ we didn't contact an Israeli company and we will never do that irrespective of its capabilities,'' he affirmed.
He said that his company approached a number of companies eight months ago in regards to the said project and we have chosen Thales Alenia Space of Italy as a strategic partner. He also questioned the logic before publishing the news report at this time from such a highly acclaimed professional magazine in this way.
