APAC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- An international call center company is adding 450 jobs to its Tucson office.
Growth from one of its main clients has caused APAC Customer Services Inc., which already employs 750 people at its call center near East 22nd Street and South Pantano Road, to need to hire more people to handle inbound customer service calls.
"We find ourselves very fortunate in this economy, with news every day of companies laying people off, that we're able to be hiring," said Shayne Farrell, APAC's vice president of operations.
Hiring began Monday, with the hope that new employees will begin taking calls by April 1, Farrell said.
The 450 positions, all of which are full-time, come with a starting pay of $9.50 per hour, Farrell said. Employees will also have the opportunity to earn performance bonuses. Jobs include full benefits, including life insurance and 401k, Farrell said.
Though the preference is for people with previous customer service experience, Farrell said his company is getting applications from people with a wide variety of skill sets due to the wealth of recent layoffs across the country.
"We've had attorneys come in, we've had directors of HR come in to apply for positions," Farrell said. "We are seeing people from all different fields."
Prospective employees can apply in person weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at APAC's Tucson office, 1650 S. Research Loop, by calling 731-5800 or online at www.apacjob.com/tucson.
