First Aerospace Educational Centre Will Be Set Up Soon

ITLS | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Tunisia will soon have its first aerospace educational centre. The centre which will house the activities of the Tunisian Educational Aerospace Association (OTEAS), will be built in the town of Jammel, in the governorate of Monastir.

A meeting debate was organized on this occasion with the participation of the Tunisian scientist and NASA expert, Mr Mohamed Lawcet Ayari and Mr Mohamed Ezzeddine Mili a former International Telecommunications Union (ITU) secretary general and a native of Jammel. The meeting which was attended by a panel of experts, scientists and journalists was the occasion to discuss the project, which will be built on a plot of land donated by a native of the region.

During the meeting, Mr Ayari, evoked his scientific career, including his latest invention known as the "Chahed Telescope", an optical instrument capable of unifying dates corresponding to the lunar months in the Moslem world. The telescope which will be set up in Kairouan is equipped with a system enabling the continuous observation of the movement of the moon, from several independent observation points. It will also enable the observation of a great number of other planets, he noted.

The Tunisian scientist who was part of the NASA team that worked on the Hubble telescope, said he was proud of being Tunisian, a land of civilization and encounters which produced many renowned scientists and intellectuals.
