The bankmen, with K Harish (33) in top form, overcame strong contenders ONGC, Uttaranchal 78-65 after leading by three points at the halfway stage of the tie. Abilek Paul (21) and international S Robinson (15) were also in their elements to power IOB to their fifth win in the seven-team round robin, their lone loss coming against Western Railway earlier in the tournament.
Western have already qualified for the final to be held tomorrow irrespective of their results of last league match against services.
In another men's match, Rest of India overcame Chennai Customs 81-56 after narrowly ahead of their rivals 35-33 at the end of second quarter and stayed on course for a berth in the final.
The women's title contest, also to be held tomorrow, will see Maharashtra taking on Southern Railway. The best men's player, to be declared by the tournament's technical committee, will receive the Javed Akhtar Memorial Trophy instituted by the Sports Journalists Association of Mumbai.
