Australia's David Jones offers gift bonus to get share of handouts

is looking to attract a portion of the cash handouts due to be
sent to Australian families this week by the federal
government. The department store operator is offering a bonus
A$20 (US$12.62) David Jones gift card for every A$200 worth of
store gift cards purchased between Tuesday and Sunday March
15.
* "David Jones is supporting the Rudd government's
initiative by offering all of our customers the opportunity to
get more value from their stimulus payment", chief executive
Mark McInnes said in a statement.
* From Wednesday, Australians will begin receiving cash
handouts as part of the government's second A$42 billion fiscal
stimulus package announced in February.
