On March 15, 2009, the company inked a strategic cooperative agreement with Infineon Technologies (NYSE: IFX), German semiconductor manufacturer.
Different from Leadcore Technology Co., Ltd., Spreadtrum Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: SPRD), and T3G, the Chongqing-based TD-SCDMA chip producer is not capable of supplying mobile terminal chips.
Although it masters dual-mode protocol stack technology, the company is not strong in the GSM field. In former TD-SCDMA chip supply to China Mobile Ltd. (SEHK: 0941 and NYSE: CHL), CYIT only provides data card chips.
However, since China Mobile adjusted its TD-SCDMA strategy, requiring automatic shift between dual modes, whether data cards or mobile phones, and it is too late to start research and development of the GSM technology, it will be a shortcut to the TD-SCDMA mobile phone market to cooperate with Infineon.
