Apr 08, 2009 (The Commercial Appeal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- RBOB | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors has approved a contract with Lehman-Roberts Co. of Memphis for paving 22 county roads, but only two of the road segments are more than a mile long.

Altogether, the contract calls for Lehman-Roberts to be paid $1,220,499 for the asphalt overlay.

"Under state law, we can add about 30 percent to the contract without having to re-bid, so I expect we will add a few more projects onto the list," said County Road Manager Russell Dorris.

The roads approved for re-paving Monday are Amy Drive, from Tulane to the end; Angie Drive East; Angie Drive South; Angie Drive West; about 11/2 miles of Baptist Road, from Pleasant Hill to Star Landing Road; Bowdry Road, from Green River Road to the end; Center Hill Road, from Deardin Drive West to Deardin Drive East; Chamberlin Road, from Johnston Road to Laughter Road; Crawford Road, from Fogg Road to the end; Crutcher Road, from Goodman Road north to the end; Daniel Lane, from Bluff Road to the end; Fairview East, from Jason Way to a point past Fairview Trail; Fulton Road, from Johnston Road to Laughter Road; Gitter Road, from Holly Springs Road to the end; about 11/2 miles of Green River Road, from Miss. 3 to Miss. 713; Moore Road, from Baker Road to the end; Morrow Crest Drive, from Robertson Road to the end; Pigeon Roost Road, from Old U.S. 78 to Jason Way; Sequoyah Drive, from Miss. 304 to Tecumseh Bluff; Sherrod Drive; Tecumseh Bluff, from Talledega Trail to Rainbow Drive, and Tina Drive, from Robertson Gin Road to Angie Drive.

Dorris said the company could start on the different paving jobs immediately. He said he did not know when all of the work would be completed.

The board approved the contract on a 5-0 vote.
