According to the filing, submitted to the SEC by billionaire Vladimir Potanin, the Russian billionaire held 25% plus-one-share in Norilsk. This is one share less than Rusal.
Rusal confirmed that it owns 25%-plus-two-shares in Norilsk, but declined to comment further.
Potanin's stake has fallen over the last year. May 26, Potanin owned 41.74 million shares and 150.32 million depository receipts in Norilsk, giving him a stake of 29.78%, according to Norilsk's annual report on the company's Web site.
Both Norilsk and Potanin's investment company Interros Holding declined to comment.
