BATTLE CREEK, Mich., May 6, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- K | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The finalists have been named, and now it's time to help determine the winners. Kellogg Company (NYSE: K | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) today announced that it is seeking online votes for the Kellogg's Frosted Flakes(TM) Earn Your Stripes(TM) field renovation program. The Kellogg's Frosted Flakes(TM) Earn Your Stripes(TM) program created this initiative to provide children across the country with the opportunity to stay active and be their very best by giving them better places to play. In total, thousands of fields were nominated for renovation. Those fields have now been narrowed down to 100 finalists based on judging criteria such as condition of the field and impact on the community. Your vote will help determine the 30 winning fields. In addition, Frosted Flakes will renovate 25 fields in partnership with select retailers for a combined total of 55 field makeovers in 2009.

This initiative, first announced in January, is making over athletic fields across the country as part of Kellogg Company's continued commitment to encouraging healthier lifestyles and building stronger communities. Consumers now can vote online for their favorite field at www.frostedflakes.com until May 31.

"As park and recreation budgets are being cut throughout the country, we feel it is more important than ever to ensure our children have ample opportunities to stay active," said Kathleen Piper, director, brand marketing-kid, U.S. Ready-to-Eat Cereals, Kellogg Company. "We've been overwhelmed with the incredible community support for these fields, and we feel that this initiative is a great way for Kellogg to make a real difference in kids' lives."

Nominations were accepted for designated outdoor baseball, softball, T-ball, soccer, football, lacrosse, field hockey fields, track or basketball courts. The entries were narrowed from thousands of total nominations to 100 field finalists based on:

-- The feasibility of the field makeover
-- The location and age of the field
-- How often the field is used
-- How many events take place on the field each month or year
-- What teams use the field
-- The number of other athletic fields in the community
-- The demand for the field
    -- Condition of the field
-- The impact a field renovation would have on the community

Consumers may vote online for their favorite field once per day during the voting period. The 30 winners will be selected by a combination of the public vote and Kellogg Company's official judging panel and notified in June. The approximate retail value for each field makeover is not to exceed $15,000. To see if a field in your area has been nominated and to learn more about the program, visit www.frostedflakes.com.

"As someone who regularly sees playing fields in poor conditions, this program is both necessary and impactful," said Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer, Little League(R) International. "I hope these communities will rally around the cause and go online to vote so their kids can have a better, healthier future."

In the retailer component of this program, Kellogg's Frosted Flakes(R) cereal will renovate 25 fields in partnership with participating retailers.

Brickman Landscaping and their Sports Turf Division will complete all field makeovers for the renovation program. Brickman has more than 60 years of experience in the turf management and field optimization business and has consulted on design, renovation and maintenance projects for fields and stadiums in the U.S. and around the world.
