MEDE | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- MEDecision, Inc., a provider of collaborative health care management solutions, announced that it has finalized its acquisition of HxTechnologies, Inc. (HxTI).

HxTI is a health information exchange (HIE) company that specializes in enabling the seamless and secure flow of clinical data among health care stakeholders.

According to the company, the deal allows it to embed HxTI's HIE technologies, particularly the iHistory HIE platform, into its Alineo collaborative health care management platform and Nexalign health information exchange service. The company said that this will bolster its ability to deliver real-time, actionable information for the formulation of meaningful electronic health records (EHRs), something President Obama has called upon the health IT industry to produce for all Americans within five years. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act includes $19 billion to help facilitate this goal.

"Combining HxTI's capabilities with our 20 years of innovation further extends our capacity to produce best-in-breed EHRs that meet the president's challenge," said Scott A. Storrer, MEDecision president and COO. "It is an opportunity for us to further strengthen Alineo and Nexalign, which further enables us to operate from a position of strength as we approach the opportunities in the changing health care landscape."

The company added that it will utilize iHistory intelligence to augment Alineo's analytics capabilities, enabling more precise patient identification, gaps in care recognition, and clinical summary and treatment plan development. iHistory will expand Nexalign's ability to assemble and deliver actionable, real-time clinical information -- including diagnostic-quality medical images -- and simplify its interoperability with other systems.
