Tops Markets appoints new vice president of sales development and marketing

May 15, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- TOMA | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- American supermarket chain Tops Markets has appointed Diane Colgan as its new vice president of sales development and marketing.

In her new role, Ms Colgans will be responsible for the direction, control and coordination of Tops Markets's core marketing functions, including brand management, advertising, loyalty and interactive marketing, community and public relations.

Prior to joining Tops Markets, Ms Colgan led the marketing functions of Piggly Wiggly Carolina. Before that she served as vice president of marketing for BI-LO, a former division of Royal Ahold. She has also worked for Gerber Products and Belk department stores.

Tops Markets has also appointed Sam Qureshi as the new director of produce and floral marketing. In this newly created position, Mr Qureshi will lead the functions of produce and floral departments to procurement, pricing, merchandising, marketing and advertising, according to the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal.

Most recently Mr Qureshi worked as co-manager for Wal-Mart. He has previously worked for Tops Markets for 15 years, in various functions, according to the news source.
