"Many restaurants have sustained some financial impact from the recession," said David Mesko, senior director of marketing and strategy, Cintas Corporation. "To offset some of this loss, owners and operators are streamlining procurement processes and opting for vendors who can provide several solutions for their business. This strategy can help restaurants reduce labor and product costs while maintaining optimal service levels."
For many restaurants, maintenance-related responsibilities are secondary to their primary focus of providing quality food and service; however, this aspect of a restaurant's operations can have just as important of an impact on a guests' experience. Research shows that more than 42 percent of guests use a facility's floors to gauge its overall cleanliness.
Restroom cleanliness has an even bigger impact on a guest's experience, with more than 95 percent of guests indicating that they would avoid an establishment in the future if they found a restaurant's restroom to be dirty. To keep restrooms stocked and sanitary, Cintas offers comprehensive restroom solutions, including the Sanis(R) Ultraclean(SM) restroom cleaning service, a deep-cleaning, high-pressure washer and chemical injection system that removes buildup, leaving a sanitized restroom that looks and smells clean. There will be live demos of this service at the Cintas booth during the NRA Show.
"As restaurants continue to campaign for patrons, owners and operators are working to ensure guests enjoy all facets of their experience so they return," said Mesko. "With solutions that ensure safe floors, a safe kitchen and clean restrooms, Cintas can help restaurants regularly clean and maintain a safe facility for continued patronage."
Liabilities associated with slips and falls or fire are another expense for many food service establishments. Each year, more than nine million disabling slips and falls occur, costing an average of $20,953 per claim. Similarly, fires started by highly flammable substances and appliances in the kitchen can result in excessive costs to an establishment. Research from the National Fire Protection Association shows that 48 percent of all fires in eating and drinking establishments are caused by cooking equipment.
To help restaurants protect themselves against costly fires, Cintas offers a service that assists customers with the design, installation, inspection, and repair of kitchen fire suppression systems. These systems put out a kitchen fire by eliminating the fuel source and smothering the fire, and are also in compliance with the UL300 standard and NFPA 17 and NFPA 17A codes. Live demonstrations of this system will also occur at the Cintas booth.
"Restaurants that streamline their facility service and fire protection needs through Cintas will find that having a single point of contact at their facility on a weekly basis reduces extra labor and costs," added Mesko. "Cintas technicians are certified, trained professionals who give customers an extra resource, delivering safe floors, safe kitchens and clean restrooms. They ensure that restaurants are kept safe, stocked and clean so that owners and operators can focus on other aspects of the business."
