Samsung, LG each sell more than 20 mln touchscreen phones
SSNJY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc., the world's No. 2 and No. 4 makers of mobile phones, each reported Sunday that sales of their touchscreen handsets have surpassed 20 million units.
Samsung and LG have increasingly introduced mobile phones with touchscreens, which can detect the presence of a touch within the display.
Both companies reached the 20-million milestone about two years after they began selling such products.
The global market for smartphones with touchscreens is expected to triple to 500 million units in 2012, compared with an anticipated 170 million units this year, industry data showed.
