Samsung Electronics' market share stood at 21.5 per cent in the first quarter in terms of dollar-based revenue, according to DisplaySearch. The company has been the leader in the global TV market since the first quarter of 2006.
The dollar amount of its sales, however, was not immediately available.
LG Electronics Co. trailed with 13.3 per cent, regaining the second position for the first time since the second quarter in 2007. Japan's Sony fell to the third spot with 13.1 per cent, the researcher said.
By number of units sold, Samsung had a 17.2 per cent market share with sales of about 7.45 million TVs.
In the first quarter, global TV sales shrank six per cent on-year to 43.3 million units, but sales of liquid crystal display TVs jumped 27 per cent to 2.67 million units, according to the researcher.
