This motto best describes the 275 women wearing purple dresses and red hats who descended on Kosciusko last Saturday for the sixth annual Red Hat Fling.
Red Hat chapters from Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi registered for the day-long event held at the Oprah Winfrey Boys and Girls Club.
The Kosciusko Red Hattitudes hosted the fling with Queen Mom Jewette Battles serving as emcee for the program in the gymnasium of the club.
Following the noon meal, prizes were awarded to winners in the Glamma, Poster, and Centerpiece Contests. Each chapter provided a centerpiece for their table carrying out a theme. Posters depicted the various chapters.
A grand prize of $300 was awarded along with a number of other prizes.
Entertainment was provided by The Boomers of Southaven who dressed in the 1950s style and sang songs of the same era.
Toni Borst, a resident of the Jackson area, sang a medley of songs in memory of Red Hat members who have died during the past year.
