Insure.com Leads Tuesday's AMBG as Global Insurance Index Rises 2.14%

OLDWICK, N.J., May 27, 2009 (A. M. Best via COMTEX) -- KORRF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The AMBG closed Tuesday, May 26, at 680.18 (+2.14%). Of the 15 A.M. Best stock indexes, 14 rose and one declined. Leading A.M. Best's Global Insurance Composite Index (AMBG) were Insure.com (+22.86%) and Kansas City Life Insurance (+13.45%). Trailing the list of global insurance stocks were Korean Reinsurance Co. (-5.51%) and DCAP Group Inc. (-4.76%).

The U.S. Life Insurance Index led the sector indexes, with the Asia/Pacific Insurance Index trailing the list. In descending order, the A.M. Best Insurance Stock Indexes closed at:

The European Insurance Index (AMBEUR) closed at 700.70 (+1.12%)%. Leading the AMBEUR were Munich Re (+2.78%) and Hannover Rueckversicherungs AG (+2.60%). Trailing the AMBEUR were Lancashire (-2.53%) and Prudential plc (-1.18%).

The Asia/Pacific Insurance Index (AMBAP) closed at 1051.24 (-0.31%). Leading the AMBAP were Fuji Fire & Marine Insurance (+9.09%) and Sompo Japan Insurance (+1.28%). Trailing the AMBAP were Korean Reinsurance Co. (-5.51%) and Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Co. Ltd. (-4.65%).

The Global Reinsurance Index (AMBGR) closed at 801.75 (+1.81%). Leading the AMBGR were Max Capital Group (+6.44%) and Montpelier Re Holdings (+5.89%). Trailing the AMBGR were Korean Reinsurance Co. (-5.51%) and China Insurance International Holdings (-1.56%).

The Global Broker Index (AMBGB) closed at 822.29 (+2.01%). Leading the AMBGB were Insure.com (+22.86%) and National Financial Partners (+8.03%). Trailing the AMBGB were DCAP Group Inc. (-4.76%) and InsWeb (0.00%).

The Global Multi-Line Insurance Index (AMBGML) closed at 493.57 (+1.66%). Leading the AMBGML were Atlantic American Corp. (+8.57%) and Horace Mann Educators (+7.69%). Trailing the AMBGML were Hartford Financial Services Group (-1.53%) and AIG (0.00%).

The Global Nonlife Insurance Index (AMBGNL) closed at 920.61 (+1.84%). Leading the AMBGNL were United America Indemnity (+9.09%) and Fuji Fire & Marine Insurance (+9.09%). Trailing the AMBGNL were Korean Reinsurance Co. (-5.51%) and Gainsco (-4.76%).

The U.S. Property/Casualty Index (AMBUPC) closed at 914.87 (+2.72%). Leading the AMBUPC were United America Indemnity (+9.09%) and American Safety Insurance Holdings (+8.31%). Trailing the AMBUPC were Gainsco (-4.76%) and Fidelity National Financial (-2.09%).

The U.S. Multi-Line Insurance Index (AMBUML) closed at 155.61 (+1.38%). Leading the AMBUML were Atlantic American Corp. (+8.57%) and Horace Mann Educators (+7.69%). Trailing the AMBUML were Hartford Financial Services Group (-1.53%) and AIG (0.00%).

The U.S. Life Insurance Index (AMBUL) closed at 673.48 (+3.98%). Leading the AMBUL were Kansas City Life Insurance (+13.45%) and FBL Financial Group (+13.01%). Trailing the AMBUL were Prudential Financial Inc. (-0.03%) and Principal Financial Group (+1.02%).

The U.S. Life and Health/HMO Insurance Index (AMBULH) closed at 708.53 (+3.80%). Leading the AMBULH were Kansas City Life Insurance (+13.45%) and FBL Financial Group (+13.01%). Trailing the AMBULH were Health Net (-1.31%) and Prudential Financial Inc. (-0.03%).

The U.S. Health and HMO Index (AMBUH) closed at 743.78 (+3.62%). Leading the AMBUH were Aflac Inc. (+5.68%) and Unum Group (+5.36%). Trailing the AMBUH were Health Net (-1.31%) and Triple-S Management Corp. (+0.84%).

The U.S. Insurance Brokers Index (AMBUB) closed at 804.04 (+2.03%). Leading the AMBUB were Insure.com (+22.86%) and National Financial Partners (+8.03%). Trailing the AMBUB were DCAP Group Inc. (-4.76%) and InsWeb (0.00%).
