The test, formerly referred to as WheatRite, is being marketed in Canada as the ReadRite alpha-amylase test for use with Tyrian's Reader. The test provides grain industry stakeholders with a quantitative method for determining the quality of wheat at Point of Need.
"The results of the evaluation and the launch of the ReadRite product is a major accomplishment for Tyrian, and validates our DiagnostIQ platform in the agriculture industry," said Jenny Harry, PhD, CEO of Tyrian Diagnostics. "We have developed a strong working relationship with Bayer CropScience, and we look forward to continued collaboration on this and future products."
Tyrian said it will continue to manufacture ReadRite test kits in house, while concurrently establishing outsourced manufacturing of the kits to meet forecast sales increases in North America and other regions.
The ReadRite alpha-amylase test is a wheat quality test that can be completed in five minutes and enables growers to make an on-farm assessment of the extent of rain damage to a crop in order to separate sound grain from damaged grain. The test is available as a rapid visual test that can be interpreted without instrumentation, or used in conjunction with the ReadRite Reader to provide a quantitative result.
Tyrian's DiagnostIQ Reader is a proprietary device that utilizes optical detection technology combined with customized software to provide a quantitative measure of the level of diagnostic targets in samples processed in Tyrian's point of need DiagnostIQ tests. The Reader can be configured to detect diagnostic targets in a range of sample types, and therefore has utility in the healthcare, agricultural, and veterinary fields.
Tyrian Diagnostics is a diagnostics company with expertise in biomarker discovery and validation and diagnostic test development with a core focus on respiratory and infectious diseases.
