Sage India, a subsidiary of UK-based business software solutions maker Sage Group Plc, expects to significantly enhance its reach in the country.
"We may see our customer base increasing to over 3,000 customers in the next two years from the current about 1,000 customers," Sage India Managing Director Thomas Abraham told PTI.
We expect to substantially increase our penetration in the Indian market with new software releases, Abraham added.
Amid the downturn in the worldwide, Sage India's global parent is optimistic about the company's future in a developing market like India as its strong domestic demand can drive economic growth.
"Our global parent is bullish about the growth in the country. We see a good revenue growth this year driven by domestic demand," he said.
The company has launched a payroll software 'Sage Pocket' designed for small and medium businesses to aid in their salary-related operations. The software comes in two versions - professional and premium - along with online modules available as add-ons.
Along with organic growth the company is also looking at the inorganic route. Sage India had made an acquisition of a small payroll solutions firm in November last year. "We have recently made an acquisition so we are not looking at another one in the near future. However, as per the company policy going forward we will continue to look at opportunities," Abraham said.
Asked about the company's hiring plans in India, Abraham said that they are comfortable with a 50-plus employee strength at present.
"At present we are not looking to hire more people, may be when our revenues increase sufficiently by next year we may look at hiring or when the need arises," he said.
