Deutsche Postbank appoints new chairman

Jun 02, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- DEUPF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Deutsche Postbank has announced that its supervisory board and Wolfgang Klein have decided that, due to differences of opinion regarding the bank's future business policies, Mr Klein's term of office as chairman of the management board would terminate with effect from June 30, 2009. Stefan Jutte will replace Mr Klein.

Mr Jutte's appointment will be valid until June 30, 2012. He has been a member of the Postbank management board since 2000. He was previously spokesman for the management board of DSL Bank, which merged with Postbank. He is also in charge of Postbank's corporate banking business.

The supervisory board and Wolfgang Klein are seeking a cancellation of the management contract in mutual agreement that is below the recommendations of the German Corporate Governance Code.

Deutsche Postbank has also said that Dirk Berensmann, COO and member of its management board with responsibility for IT and operations, and the supervisory board have reached a mutual agreement for the termination of Mr Berensmann's office.

Mr Berensmann will be succeeded by Mario Daberkow, who until now has been responsible as executive manager for Postbank's transaction banking business. Mr Daberkow has worked for Postbank since 2002.
