In a statement on Monday, Abdul Hadi expressed concern over plan of LPG local producers to increase the LPG prices in Pakistan, after the Saudi Armco Contract Price has raised price of liquid petroleum gas by $43 dollar per ton. He was of the view that if the prices of LPG were hiked at local level, it would suddenly raise by Rs4300 per ton at production level, which would be a sheer injustice with the consumers.
He said it is obvious that raw material of LPG Butane is jumped to $455 dollar with increase of $55 dollar per ton and Propane to $395 with the hike of $15 per ton in the international market, but even due to this there was no effect on indigenous LPG raw material prices at local level. Abdul Hadi observed that hike in LPG prices at local level would badly affect its sale and purchase. He said in order to end monopoly in LPG sector, private sector during the first five months of current year has imported 35940 metric tons from various countries, which has helped in stabilizing the LPG rates in Pakistan.
