Ms. Norfolk brings to AdWorkshop 14 years of diverse marketing experience. She has lived and worked in major cities throughout the world. Prior to moving to Lake Placid in 2003, she worked for Fortune 500 technology companies, including Symbol Technologies (now Motorola.) She has been involved in software mobile computing marketing and product development, mergers and acquisitions, as well as business development in the health-care, retail, education and hospitality industries.
Most recently, Ms. Norfolk was the vacation rental director at Merrill L. Thomas Inc. and a member of the Lake Placid Essex County Bureau Board of Directors. In addition, she was public relations director of Inphorm, the public relations division of AdWorkshop, from 2005 to 2007.
Ms. Norfolk is a 1991 graduate of Immaculate Heart Central High School. She holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from Canisius College and a master's degree in business administration from Hofstra University, where she graduated magna cum laude. She resides in Lake Placid with her husband, Matt, and sons Rowen and Lincoln.
HONORED BY KINNEY: Robert Kline, supervising pharmacist at the Kinney Drugs store in Alexandria Bay, received Kinney's Quest for Excellence award, the most prestigious award Kinney Drugs gives.
The award was presented at Kinney's pharmacy conference at the Turning Stone in Verona.
The Quest for Excellence award honors a pharmacist's overall dedication to customers, community, as well as professional representation of Kinney Drugs. In addition to much appreciation and fanfare, the winner receives a 1-carat diamond ring to signify the magnitude of this award.
Mr. Kline is a 20-year veteran of Kinney Drugs.
Kinney Drugs, headquartered in Gouverneur, is an employee-owned company with 88 stores in Central and Northern New York and Vermont.
BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR: Tania J. Sterling, broker/owner of TLC Real Estate, Gouverneur, has been named Gouverneur's Business Woman of the Year for 2009.
Ms. Sterling, a native of Gouverneur, has been actively involved in her community for many years, serving as secretary for the Gouverneur Museum, delivering meals every Friday for the United Methodist Senior lunch program, volunteering at St. James School, and serving on various boards and committees.
NAMED TO BOARD: Daniel W. Fitzpatrick, Ogdensburg city manager from 1983 to 1987, has been appointed by the deputy director of the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology to the 2009 Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program. The award is the highest level of national recognition for performance excellence that a U.S. organization can receive.
As an examiner, Mr. Fitzpatrick is responsible for reviewing and evaluating applications submitted for the award. The board is composed of about 500 leading experts selected from industry, professional and trade organizations, education and health care and government. Mr. Fitzpatrick is city manager of Englewood, N.J.
ALLERGY LAB ACCREDITED: Allergy Care PLLC's allergy and immunology laboratory has met all criteria for laboratory accreditation by COLA (formerly the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation), as a result of a long-term commitment to providing quality service to its patients.
COLA is a nonprofit, physician-directed organization promoting quality and excellence in medicine and patient care.
