WASHINGTON, June 3, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- LBTI | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Liberty Alliance, the global identity community working to build a more trustworthy Internet for businesses, governments and people, today announced that the next Liberty Interoperable SAML 2.0 testing event will take place from July 14 - September 4, 2009. This is the third Liberty Interoperable full-matrix testing event administered by the Drummond Group Inc., and the first to test against the new eGovernment SAML 2.0 profile recently released by Liberty Alliance. Results of the testing will be announced in the fall.

"We're seeing an increasing number of identity-related RFPs now requiring vendors to have passed Liberty Alliance SAML 2.0 testing. This is because governments and businesses trust the Liberty Interoperable program for demonstrating proven SAML 2.0 interoperability among multiple vendor products," said Colin Wallis, Chair of the Liberty Alliance eGovernment Special Interest Group. "The eGovernment SAML 2.0 profile provides government agencies with support for customizing applications to meet regional identity management requirements. Governments adopting the profile will find it easier to meet transparency goals and to offer citizens a variety of identity-enabled services with security and privacy at their core."

This year's program streamlines testing procedures to encourage wide scale vendor participation and features rigorous real world use cases between Service Provider (SP) and Identity Provider (IdP). The eGovernment profile and its requisite test plan have been developed with input from the Danish, New Zealand and US governments and includes testing of multiple SP logout scenarios, requested authentication context comparisons, and other aspects of SAML 2.0 necessary to meet eGovernment identity federation requirements.

About the Liberty Interoperable(TM) Program

Web-based full-matrix testing allows vendors to participate in the Liberty Interoperable program from anywhere in the world and provides more testing processes for ensuring products meet SAML 2.0 interoperability requirements. The ongoing success of the Liberty Interoperable program is demonstrated by the wide scale deployment of Liberty-enabled products and the increasing number of businesses and governments such as the US GSA, requiring vendors to pass Liberty Alliance testing. Vendors interested in participating can get more information at http://3aasd.tk. More information about the program, including a list of all vendors who have passed Liberty Alliance testing, is available at http://www.projectliberty.org/liberty/liberty_interoperable.
