The multi-year agreement will allow Sony to continue to use Macrovision's IPG technology and patents, under the company's Gemstar patent portfolio, for its products.
In addition to comprehensive program listings, Macrovision said that it IPGs can take consumers to the next level of TV viewing with the ability to manage personal profiles and deliver recommendations based on both editorial reviews and user preferences.

Macrovision's IPG technology allows consumer electronics manufacturers to integrate interactive program guide functionality directly into TVs, DVD and Blu-ray recorders, personal video recorders, and other devices.
