In his new role Brown will direct the company's global communication efforts, overseeing functions that include public relations, executive communications, product promotion, public affairs, internal communications, corporate reputation management, as well as social media outreach.
Brown, who is expected to join the company in early July 2009, will report to Yahoo!'s chief marketing officer, Elisa Steele. A Most recently Brown was vice president of corporate relations at NetApp. Prior to that he was head of public relations for Adaptec. Earlier he has held additional leadership positions in both corporate and agency environments.
