You can view the 20 riotously decorated kings and silvers from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at a festive coming-out party that includes music, kids activities and a chance to meet the men and women behind the fish.
Later this week the salmon will be placed on view in public places around town and will remain there until the end of August. The parade has been a popular summertime spectacle here since 2003.
On Sept. 11, the salmon make their final migration to the annual Fish Fry & Buy dinner. There they'll be auctioned off for charities including Camp Fire USA, the Anchorage Concert Association and the Alaska Conservation Foundation.
