Mr. and Mrs. David W. Carlisle of Tupelo announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Lee Richburg, to Matthew Rackley Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Miller of Tupelo.

The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Stacey Richburg of Tupelo. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Davis, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Richburg, all of Tupelo.

She is a 1999 graduate of Tupelo High School, where she was homecoming queen, a cheerleader and a member of Habitat for Humanity. She earned a master's degree in education at the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She is an elementary school teacher in Kingwood, Texas.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Leroy Miller of Kossuth, and the late James H. Rogers and Eva Rogers Nash of Corinth.

He is a 1999 graduate of Northwest Rankin High School in Brandon. He was the Jackson Metro Player of the Year in baseball in 1999 and a Louisville Slugger TPX All American in 1999. He attended the University of Mississippi, where he lettered in baseball in 2000. He is an air traffic controller at Houston Air Route Traffic Control Center in Houston, Texas, and an air traffic controller in the 248 Air Traffic Control Squadron at Key Field, Meridian.

Modak-Mylroie

Mr. and Mrs. Ravi Modak of Tupelo announce the engagement of their daughter, Robika Modak, to John Erik Mylroie, son of Dr. and Mrs. John Mylroie of Starkville.

She is a graduate of Millsaps College with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology with a classics minor. At Millsaps she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and Eta Sigma Phi. She earned her master of science degree in counselor education at Mississippi State University. At MSU she was secretary of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Honor Society and president of chi Sigma Iota. She is a school counselor at Central School in West Point. She is working on her doctorate in counselor education at Mississippi State University.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Mylroie of West Glenville, N.Y., and Robert Saxon of Tampa, Fla., and the late Ruth Saxon.

He is an honor graduate of Starkville High School. He was a member of the soccer team, cross country team and National Honor Society. He was the Male Academic Athlete of the Year and earned a Leadership Award for cross country. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Millsaps College with a bachelor of science degree in biology. He is a student at Mississippi State University, working on his doctorate in molecular biology and biochemistry.

The couple will exchange vows at 3 p.m. June 20, 2009, at Unity Baptist Church in Ripley. A reception will follow in the church's Family Life Center. Family and friends are invited.
