Customer Input Drives Horizon Air's Fall Schedule Changes

SEATTLE, Jun 08, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ALK | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Horizon Air today announced several changes to its fall flight schedule, taking effect Aug. 23 and available for sale now.

"We keep in close contact with our frequent fliers, and many of the adjustments to our schedule are being made directly in response to what they shared with us," said Dan Russo, Horizon's vice president of marketing and communications. "We're improving flight times for business travelers and providing additional connection options from our hub cities."

The following is a list of Horizon's schedule changes. All flights are operated with the 76-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprop or the 70-seat Bombardier CRJ-700 regional jet.

Boise to Idaho Falls, Los Angeles and Spokane

Horizon's two daily flights between Boise and Spokane will be retimed to better accommodate same-day business travel between the two cities. Service between Boise and Idaho Falls will be increased from one to two daily flights and also retimed for easier same-day roundtrips.

The once-daily nonstop service between Idaho Falls and Seattle will be discontinued, but a new same-plane, one-stop flight from Seattle to Idaho Falls (via Boise) will be added. In addition, the new schedule will provide same-plane, one-stop service from Idaho Falls to Los Angeles (via Boise).

Horizon's twice-daily Boise-Los Angeles service will be retimed to allow for more connections to and from Mexico on Horizon or its sister carrier, Alaska Airlines.

Redmond/Bend

Flights between Redmond/Bend and Los Angeles have been retimed. The Sunday-through-Friday 10:30 a.m. flight to Los Angeles has been replaced by a 7:35 a.m. flight, arriving in Los Angeles three hours earlier and giving passengers more connection opportunities to Mexico destinations.

Arcata/Eureka and Redding

Starting Aug. 25, Horizon will be offering nonstop service between Redding and Seattle, and same-plane, one-stop service between Arcata/Eureka and Seattle (via Redding). Direct service to Portland will be discontinued; however, by flying direct to Seattle, Horizon will be able to increase the number of possible connection destinations from 11 to 30. Short connection flights to Portland will also be available every hour from Seattle.

Flagstaff and Prescott

Horizon's flights connecting Flagstaff and Prescott with Los Angeles have been rescheduled based on feedback from the community and local tourism-supported businesses. The schedule now has a new second-flight option between Prescott and Los Angeles. It also improves connections to up to 65 flights worldwide via Horizon and Alaska's airline partners, including connections to all four major Hawaiian Islands, Australia and Europe.
