Oklahoma scene: ASCS Speedweek moves into Oklahoma

Jun 08, 2009 (The Oklahoman - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- GSTH | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Tony Bruce of Liberal, Kan., leads the points standings after two rounds of the American Sprint Car Series' 17th annual Speedweek. The series moves to Oklahoma and Texas this week. Races are scheduled Tuesday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa; Thursday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas; Friday at State Fair Speedway in Oklahoma City; and Saturday at Lawton Speedway. Bruce won Saturday night's A feature in Little Rock, Ark., to take a twopoint lead over Tim Crawley of Benton, Ark. Crawley won the first Speedweek race on Friday night in Texarkana, Ark. The Speedweek points leader after Saturday night's race in Lawton will win $2,000.

Trey Robb of Newcastle raced Friday in Waco, Texas, and won an ASCS Gulf South feature at Heart O' Texas Speedway. Robb, 17, is driving a sprinter owned by Jerry Bell of Garland, Texas. The feature win was Robb's first this season on the ASCS series.

TU GETS CONNECTICUT TRANSFER

The Tulsa men's basketball team has added Connecticut transfer Scottie Haralson. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound guard played in 17 games off the bench for the Huskies this season, averaging 1.4 points in 4.1 minutes. Haralson will sit out the 2009-2010 season. He will have three season of eligibility remaining.

Haralson is the second transfer in the last week to sign with TU. The Golden Hurricane signed Western Kentucky transfer D.J. Magley.
