This now bans the 11 companies from importing infringed digital television products into the United States and selling them in the country.
The International Trade Commission issued an order for such a ban in April and gave up to 60 days through Tuesday for the U.S. president to review the commission's decision, but the period elapsed without objection from Obama.
Funai said in a statement that this "marked a major achievement in its quest to end patent infringement by Vizio and other television manufacturers." The Osaka-based electronics maker filed a complaint with the ITC in 2007.
