Morse will start to work for Yahoo on June 17 and assume the responsibilities of CFO on July 1. He will report directly to Carol Bartz, Yahoo's chief executive officer.
"Morse will be responsible for the company's finance, investor relations, and mergers and acquisitions groups," Yahoo said in a statement.
Before joining Yahoo, Morse served as CFO of Altera Corp., a semiconductor company. He also worked for General Electric Co. for 15 years.
The new appointment came at a time when Yahoo has resumed talks with Microsoft Corp. about a possible search and advertising partnership.
Yahoo announced the departure of Jorgensen at the end of February as part of management reshuffle under Bartz, who replaced the company's co-founder Jerry Yang in January.
