He stated this during a follow-up meeting with delegation of K-waters, a Korean state owned company, who are interested in this project. To overcome this challenge, CDA is working on various options for continuous provision of water to the citizens, he said.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding water pipelines was earlier signed between the government of Korea and Pakistan.
According to which the K-water has committed to invest US$300 million in this project and rest of the funds would be arranged by the government of Pakistan. It was informed the meeting during the meeting that after the completion, the project would supply 200 gallon of water, one hundred each to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The Executive Director of the K-Water, Mr. Oh Sung Hoon said that the company would provide, if awarded contract, clean drinking water as per standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO). He also apprised the meeting that K-Waters is supplying clean drinking water to the 85% population of Korea.
The Chairman CDA appreciating the interest of the K-Water in the project said that the award for the project would be given through an open transparent competition according to the government policy of providing level playing field to all the foreign investors.
