Of the three Korean companies of IK SAN International, TECH Data and H.C Industrial Development making the move in the country, IK SAN and H.C companies seek engagement in mine production, while TECH Data company in technological work, the report said.
TECH Data Company stands one of the world's largest companies introducing its technology for hardware and software production in over 100 countries, while H.C International company is an experienced company creating designs for plastics production and IK SAN International company is a subsidiary to the Lucky Gold Star (LG Chemical) group company, it said.
According to official statistics, South Korea's investment in Myanmar reached 244 million U.S. dollars with their bilateral trade attaining 360 million dollars in 2008.
Meanwhile, private entrepreneurs of both countries, who met early this month in the commemorative summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and South Korea in Jeju Island, sought ways for increasing South Korea's investment in Myanmar in 2009.
South Korea stands the 10th largest foreign investor in Myanmar in 37 projects accounting for 1.52 percent of Myanmar's total foreign investment of 15 billion dollars.
Recently, South Korea offered exemption of tariff on most of the goods imported from ASEAN nations including Myanmar.
South Korea has become the 8th largest trading partner of Myanmar with about 3,000 items of Myanmar goods exported to Korea covering agricultural produces, marine and forest products, and garments, while Myanmar mainly imported from S. Korea steel, garment, electrical and electronic goods.
