In addition, Jiangsu Province start the trial run of the business in July 2008, mainly as an effort to protect the environment of local water areas. About two months later, the Hubei provincial government set aside CNY 2 million to subsidize the purchase of environmental pollution liability insurance products. In the same year, Hunan Province selected 18 companies engaged in petrochemical, nonferrous metal and steel production as the pilots of the business.
